Recognizes California Native American Day, celebrated on September 26, 2025 (the fourth Friday of September), and the annual California Indian Cultural Awareness Conference

California has more Native American residents and federally recognized Indian tribes than any other state in the United States

Acknowledges recent legislation including the California Indian Education Act (AB 1703, 2021), the Feather Alert system for missing indigenous people (AB 1314, 2022), and tribal comanagement of natural resources (AB 1284, 2024)

Notes this is the seventh California Native American Day since Governor Newsom issued an executive order apologizing for historical wrongs committed against California Native Americans

Highlights 2024 milestones including the first National Native American Heritage Month Parade and California Indian Cultural Education Day at the Capitol
