Prohibits using wearable recording devices (smartwatches, glasses, body cameras) to capture sound or video of people in areas of businesses where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy without explicit consent

Bans disabling indicator lights on wearable recording devices that show when recording is active, and prohibits manufacturing, selling, or purchasing technology designed to disable such indicators

First-time violations are punishable by fines up to $2,500, imprisonment up to one year in county jail or state prison, or both

Repeat offenders with prior convictions under this or related wiretapping laws face enhanced penalties of up to $10,000 in fines, imprisonment up to one year, or both

Exempts law enforcement officers acting within the scope of their authority and recordings made to gather evidence of certain crimes including extortion, kidnapping, bribery, human trafficking, and domestic violence
