Moves parental birthplace information from the public portion of California birth certificates to the confidential medical and social section, effective July 1, 2027

Parental birthplace will be labeled "Confidential Information for Public Health Use Only" and kept confidential under existing vital records privacy laws

Public portion of birth certificates will continue to include child's name, sex, date and place of birth, and parents' names and dates of birth

Legislative findings justify the limitation on public access as necessary to protect privacy regarding parental birthplace information

No appropriation required; passed with majority vote and includes fiscal committee review
