Repeals the requirement for the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) to approve and adopt education criteria for peace officers based on a 2023 report about a modern policing degree program

Preserves the existing requirement that the Chancellor of California Community Colleges develop a modern policing degree program and submit recommendations to the Legislature (which was due by June 1, 2023)

Declared an urgency statute requiring a 2/3 vote, taking effect immediately upon approval on October 1, 2025

Urgency justified by the need to alleviate pressure on law enforcement recruitment by providing clarification on degree requirements
