Requires the Instructional Quality Commission to consider adding content on African American contributions during Spanish colonization of California, the Gold Rush Era, and Antebellum period when the State Board of Education next revises the history-social science curriculum framework or adopts new instructional materials after January 1, 2026

Content must address African Americans' historical, social, economic, and political contributions, including their experience with discriminatory laws, barriers to land ownership, and efforts to establish economic and social stability in California

Builds on existing law that already requires consideration of Native American treatment and perspectives during Spanish colonization and Gold Rush Era in curriculum revisions

Approved by Governor on August 28, 2025 and requires no state appropriation
