Requires a separate, stand-alone one-semester career technical education (CTE) course as a high school graduation requirement starting with the class of 2031-32, which cannot be combined with any other course

Mandates school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools to offer at least one stand-alone semester CTE course beginning in the 2028-29 school year

Removes the current option allowing CTE to satisfy the visual/performing arts or world language graduation requirement, which was previously set to expire July 1, 2027

CTE courses may include district-operated programs aligned to state standards, regional occupational center programs, or courses offered through community college partnership agreements

Implementation is contingent upon appropriation by the Legislature, and local educational agencies may eliminate locally required courses to accommodate the new CTE requirement
