Manufacturing, importing, marketing, purchasing, selling, or operating a signal jammer without FCC authorization is an infraction with up to $500 fine for first offense, and a misdemeanor for subsequent offenses with up to 1 year in jail and/or $1,000 fine

Operating a signal jammer while committing a misdemeanor or felony is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail and/or $1,000 fine

Willfully using a signal jammer to block public safety communications (law enforcement, firefighters, EMS) when the person knows it could cause death or great bodily injury, and such harm occurs, is a wobbler offense (misdemeanor or felony)

Conviction requires forfeiture of the signal jamming device

Law enforcement agencies are exempt from these restrictions when using signal jammers in authorized, lawful operations
