Requires the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau to convene a workgroup by March 1, 2026 (moved up from July 1, 2027) to discuss options for care and maintenance of abandoned cemeteries

Expands workgroup membership to include representatives from cemetery industry, California Association of Local Agency Formation Commissions, League of California Cities, state and rural county associations, public cemeteries, and legislative staff

Workgroup will explore requiring counties to assume responsibility for maintenance, irrigation, public works, and burial services for abandoned cemeteries within their boundaries

Bureau must submit a report with workgroup recommendations to the Legislature by June 1, 2026 (moved up from January 1, 2028)

Provisions automatically repeal on January 1, 2027 (shortened from January 1, 2029)
