K-12 schools must update comprehensive school safety plans by March 1, 2026 to include procedures for notifying parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, and staff when immigration enforcement presence is confirmed on campus

Charter school petitions may be denied if their safety plans do not include the same immigration enforcement notification procedures required of school districts and county offices of education

California State University, community colleges, and qualifying independent institutions must notify all students, faculty, staff, and campus community members when immigration enforcement is confirmed on campus, including the date, time, location, and a link to additional resources

Notifications must not include personally identifiable information and must consider the safety and well-being of pupils, employees, and community members when determining timing and method of notification

"Immigration enforcement" is defined as any efforts to investigate or enforce federal civil or criminal immigration laws related to a person's presence, entry, reentry, or employment in the United States; these provisions expire January 1, 2031
