Senate Resolution urging the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee to induct Jim Plunkett, 78, into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2027

Plunkett is the only Latino quarterback to win two Super Bowls (Super Bowl XV in 1981, Super Bowl XVIII in 1984), both with the Raiders, and was named MVP of Super Bowl XV

Born December 5, 1947, in San Jose to blind Mexican American parents, Plunkett won the 1970 Heisman Trophy at Stanford—the first Latino recipient—and was the first overall NFL Draft pick in 1971

His 17-year NFL career included 25,882 passing yards, 164 touchdowns, and inductions into the College Football Hall of Fame (1990), Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (1992), and California Sports Hall of Fame (2007)

Resolution directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit copies to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
