House Bill 10-1150: Caterer's Alcohol Beverage License

• Creates a new caterer's license authorizing catering businesses to sell and serve malt, vinous, and spirituous liquors at client-chosen venues or the caterer's food establishment.

• Requires caterers to be licensed under state health laws and limits alcohol sales at the food establishment to no more than 25% of total sales.

• Mandates caterers obtain a special event permit to sell alcohol at places open to the public and requires food to be served whenever alcohol is served.

• Sets annual licensing fees of $325 to the state and $500 to local licensing authorities.

• Requires caterers to purchase alcohol primarily from licensed wholesalers, with exception for up to $1,000 annually from retail liquor stores, and mandates notification to local authorities at least one week before off-premises events.
