• Expands community parole officer duties to include supporting parolee reintegration by assisting with employment, housing, and other services while maintaining public safety focus.

• Creates new parole revocation options for non-violent Class 4 felony parolees with non-criminal violations: allows up to 180 days in county facility instead of automatic return to Department of Corrections.

• Authorizes parole board to consider treatment placement (outpatient or residential programs for substance abuse, mental illness, or co-occurring disorders) as alternative to incarceration for parolees in need of treatment.

• Appropriates $5.6 million for fiscal year 2010 for community corrections beds, parole officers, wrap-around services, employment training, mental health treatment, and related re-entry support services.

• Requires Division of Adult Parole to report to legislature on parole outcomes and use of allocated funds related to this act.
