HB10-1412 Summary

• Creates a 13-member Charter School and Charter Authorizer Standards Review Committee to develop recommendations for charter school and authorizer standards, with members appointed by legislative leaders, governor, and state board by October 1, 2010.

• Committee must establish two subcommittees focused on charter school standards and charter school authorizer standards, with the chair authorized to create additional subcommittees as needed.

• Committee shall submit recommendations by August 1, 2011 addressing agency capacity, application processes, performance contracting, ongoing oversight, renewal decision-making, ethical issues, and nondiscrimination standards.

• State Board of Education must adopt rules based on committee recommendations by January 15, 2012.

• Committee is repealed effective August 30, 2011.
