HB 11-1007 Summary

• Mesa State College president shall hold an election of classified employees to determine whether they want to remain in the state personnel system or participate in the college's alternative personnel system.

• If employees vote to be exempt from the state personnel system, each classified employee may personally choose which system to participate in, and newly hired employees automatically participate in the college's alternative system unless hired into a classified position.

• Employees who remain in the state personnel system retain all rights, privileges, and protections; cannot be discriminated against; and cannot be required to switch systems for promotion or position changes.

• Employees switching to the college's alternative personnel system retain full credit for all sick leave and vacation time accumulated in the state personnel system.

• If employees vote against exemption, the president must wait at least 12 months before holding another election on the same issue.
