HB 11-1152: Health Care Workforce Data Collection

• Director of the Division of Registrations must implement a system by July 1, 2013 to collect ongoing health care workforce data from nine licensed professions including dentists, physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, licensed professional counselors, and addiction counselors.

• Mandatory data collection includes practice locations, hours of direct patient care, specialties, practice settings, education and training, and age of health care professionals.

• Data must be extractable as uniquely identified records and available to state departments for workforce planning purposes at least annually, with aggregate de-identified data available to the public upon written request.

• Director must designate a voluntary advisory group composed of the Primary Care Office director, representatives of affected health care professions, and health care workforce experts to develop data collection structure and parameters for public data release.

• Health care professionals may voluntarily provide additional data through an online survey developed by the advisory group.
