HB11-1175 Summary

• Enacts the "Health Care Professional Transparency Act" requiring health care practitioners to clearly identify their type of professional license in advertisements and patient care settings.

• Requires practitioners to wear a photo identification name tag during all patient encounters displaying their name, license type, and license expiration date, and to display a written notice in their office identifying their license type.

• Mandates that medical doctors and osteopathic doctors supervising collaborative practices post schedules of their regular hours and inform patients when care is provided by non-physician practitioners.

• Violations constitute unprofessional conduct subject to disciplinary action under applicable licensure laws, with any fees paid by patients required to be refunded.

• Effective 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 10, 2011), subject to voter approval if a referendum petition is filed within that period.
