• Amends window tinting restrictions in Colorado Revised Statutes 42-4-227 to allow law enforcement vehicles an exemption from standard light transmittance requirements.

• Law enforcement vehicles owned or leased by state or local law enforcement agencies may treat windows (except windshields) to allow less than 27 percent light transmittance for valid law enforcement services.

• Law enforcement vehicles with tinted windows cannot be used for traffic law enforcement operations or any offenses under Article 4 of the motor vehicle code.

• Windshield treatment on law enforcement vehicles remains subject to existing limits requiring at least 70 percent light transmittance.

• General assembly declares the act necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety.
