• Extends the right to use deadly force against intruders to include owners, managers, and employees of businesses, in addition to dwelling occupants.

• Allows deadly force when an unlawful entry occurs and the person reasonably believes the intruder has committed, is committing, or intends to commit a crime in addition to the entry, and might use any physical force against occupants or business personnel.

• Provides criminal immunity from prosecution for individuals using physical force, including deadly force, in accordance with the law's provisions.

• Provides civil immunity from liability for injuries or death resulting from the justified use of such force.

• Effective date is August 10, 2011, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case the measure requires voter approval at the November 2012 general election.
