HB12-1021 Summary

• Eliminates non-MPO transportation planning regions and regional transportation plans, requiring CDOT to include all non-MPO areas in its comprehensive statewide transportation plan using appropriate planning levels to equitably incorporate area needs.

• Repeals the state transportation advisory committee and the special interim transit and rail advisory committee.

• Amends the legislative declaration to emphasize that state involvement in transportation planning through CDOT and the Transportation Commission has become increasingly critical as population grows and transportation revenues decline in real terms.

• Makes conforming amendments throughout Colorado Revised Statutes to replace references to "regional transportation plans" with "twenty-year transportation plans" and "transportation planning regions" with "metropolitan planning organizations" where applicable.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2012.
