HB 12-1092 Summary

• Allows law-abiding persons at least 21 years old who may legally possess a handgun under Colorado and U.S. law to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.

• Grants permit-less concealed carry authority equal to that of permit holders under section 18-12-214, including all applicable rights and limitations.

• Prohibits permit-less concealed handgun carry on the real property or improvements of public elementary, middle, junior high, or high school grounds.

• Creates exemptions to charges of unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful weapon possession on school, college, or university grounds for qualifying individuals carrying handguns.

• Becomes effective upon passage and applies to offenses committed on or after the effective date.
