HB 12-1153 Summary

• Department of Revenue shall design and issue special license plates for recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross who own trucks under 16,000 pounds, passenger cars, motorcycles, or noncommercial/recreational vehicles.

• Applicants for the Distinguished Flying Cross license plate must submit a copy of the military order awarding the medal or other evidence acceptable to the Department of Revenue.

• Appropriates $2,960 to the Department of Revenue for computer center services and $436 to the Division of Motor Vehicles for purchase of special license plates related to implementation.

• Becomes effective August 8, 2012, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case it requires voter approval at the November 2012 general election.

• Applies to license plate applications and issuances made on or after January 1, 2013.
