HB 12-1162 Summary

• Creates a special license plate for veterans of Operation Desert Shield or Desert Storm who served in the United States Armed Services between August 2, 1990, and February 28, 1991.

• Makes the new license plate available to eligible veterans effective January 1, 2013, for trucks under 16,000 pounds, passenger cars, motorcycles, and noncommercial or recreational vehicles.

• Requires applicants to provide a DD214 form or other sufficient evidence of military service during the specified dates before the Department of Revenue or authorized agents can issue the plate.

• Appropriates $2,960 to the Department of Revenue for information technology services and computer center services for fiscal year 2012-2013.

• Appropriates an additional $1,976 from the license plate cash fund to the Division of Motor Vehicles for purchasing the license plates.
