HB12-1174: Bisphenol A-Free Children Act

• Prohibits manufacturers and wholesalers from selling children's products containing Bisphenol A (BPA) effective July 1, 2012
• Expands prohibition to all persons selling or providing BPA-containing children's products in Colorado effective July 1, 2013
• Defines "children's products" as pacifiers or empty containers designed for children under age 3 to consume food or liquids, including baby bottles, bottle liners, cups, lids, straws, and sippy cups
• Excludes used children's products from the prohibition
• Establishes legislative findings that 93% of Americans have detectable BPA levels, infants and toddlers have higher exposure, and BPA is linked to heart disease, immune disruption, brain deterioration, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and obesity
