Title insurance agents doing business in Colorado must maintain a physical office within the state that serves as a bona fide business office and primary workplace for one or more full-time employees.

The designated responsible insurance producer licensed under Colorado law must be included among the full-time employees working at the in-state physical office.

Attorneys who are licensed to practice law in Colorado and hold a title insurance agent license are exempt from this requirement.

The act takes effect January 1, 2013, unless a referendum petition is filed within 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, in which case voter approval at the November 2012 general election is required.
