HB 12-1214 Summary

• Amends Colorado Revised Statutes section 23-60-211 to create an exception allowing community colleges to offer two-year degree programs with academic designation in dental hygiene without requiring a valid student transfer agreement.

• Community colleges offering two-year degree programs must still submit the degree program designation to their governing board for review and approval.

• Degree programs require approval from both the board and the Colorado Commission on Higher Education before being offered.

• Community colleges must use the approved degree program designation name exclusively in official publications, course catalogs, diplomas, and official transcripts.

• Takes effect August 8, 2012, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case it requires voter approval at the November 2012 general election.
