HB 12-1337 Summary

• Prohibits the Department of Corrections from operating the Centennial South Campus (Colorado State Penitentiary II/CSP II) for inmate housing beginning February 1, 2013.

• Allows the facility to be maintained only for providing support and other services to the main Centennial Correctional Facility if necessary.

• Directs the Department to actively pursue options to sell or lease the Centennial South Campus property.

• Requires any proceeds from a sale or lease of the facility to be first applied to payment of Certificates of Participation.

• Takes effect August 8, 2012, subject to voter approval if a referendum petition is filed within the ninety-day period following legislative adjournment.
