Transfer of the Colorado Geological Survey and Office of the State Geologist from the Department of Natural Resources to Colorado School of Mines effective January 31, 2013

Colorado School of Mines President and DNR Executive Director must develop and execute a memorandum of understanding addressing employee transfers, property transfers, contracts, appropriations, and survey functions before the transfer occurs

Memorandum of Understanding must be finalized by December 31, 2012 or the transfer will not occur, with status notification required to the Revisor of Statutes

Colorado School of Mines must report to the Joint Budget Committee and relevant legislative committees by December 1, 2012 regarding the transfer details and MOU contents

Survey shall maintain primary emphasis on recognition and mitigation of geologic hazards affecting public safety and mineral resource economic development, including operation of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center
