SB 12-062 Summary

• Adds valid Veteran Identification Cards issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as acceptable voter identification in Colorado elections.

• Removes funding restrictions on the internet-based voting pilot program for absent uniformed services electors serving outside the United States, allowing the program to proceed with appropriated funds and private donations.

• Allows military personnel in hostile fire zones to provide ballot application information verbally or in writing to an officer, who may then submit an unsigned federal postcard application or letter on their behalf with an officer's signed statement.

• Defines "covered voter in a hostile fire zone" as a uniformed services member located in an area designated as hostile fire zone by the U.S. Secretary of Defense at the time of ballot request.
