Prohibits counties from requiring the installation of sprinklers in single-family dwellings, effective upon passage.

Prohibits municipalities from requiring the installation of sprinklers in single-family dwellings, effective upon passage.

Defines "single-family dwelling" as an improved real property used or intended to be used as a residence containing one dwelling unit.

Overrides any conflicting provisions in the Uniform Building Code or other applicable codes.

Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 7, 2012) unless subject to a referendum petition filed by voters, in which case it requires approval at the November 2012 general election.
