SB 12-091 Summary

• Reduces board member experience requirement from five years to three years for nursing home administrators serving on the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators.

• Allows governor to appoint any qualified nursing home administrator if unable to find a nonprofit facility administrator candidate after good-faith effort to fill board vacancies.

• Reduces required experience from two years to one year for applicants with associate's or bachelor's degrees in health care or business/public administration, with day-to-day on-site supervisory responsibility.

• Reduces administrator-in-training program requirement from 2,000 hours to 1,000 hours before candidates become eligible to take the licensure examination.

• Permits nursing home administrators licensed in other states who have passed national and state examinations to take the Colorado licensure examination for endorsement.
