SB 12-092 Summary

• Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 42-4-201 to prohibit drivers from operating motor vehicles with video displays visible to the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

• Allows computers, data terminals, and safety equipment in vehicles provided they are not used to display visual entertainment, internet browsing, social media, or email to the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

• Effective date is July 1, 2012, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.

• Includes a safety clause declaring the act necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety.
