Public schools, charter schools, and institute charter schools must offer CPR/AED training to all students in grades 9-12 beginning September 1, 2012.

Grade 12 students must successfully complete CPR/AED training during 12th grade or any of the preceding 5 years as a graduation requirement.

Training must incorporate psychomotor skills development (hands-on practicing and skills testing) and can be provided by schools or qualified entities recognized by national nonprofit certification agencies.

A state cash fund is established for CPR/AED training implementation, with the Department of Education limited to spending no more than 5% annually on fund administration and prohibited from using general fund moneys.

Schools may seek gifts, grants, and donations from public and private sources for training; the Department must notify legislative council staff when adequate funding is received through donations.
