HB 13-1195 Summary

• The Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice must review the implementation of human trafficking and slavery provisions (Part 5) enacted in 2006 and submit findings to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees by January 1, 2014.

• The report must include the number of cases prosecuted and convictions for offenses under sections 18-3-501, 18-3-502, and 18-3-503, as well as related attempts, solicitations, and conspiracies.

• The report must detail circumstances present in trafficking cases, sentences imposed for each conviction and their appropriateness, and any other relevant information to inform legislative consideration.

• The statute is repealed effective January 2, 2014, making this directive temporary for the 2013-2014 review period.

• Appropriates $9,020 and 0.1 FTE from the general fund to the Department of Public Safety's Division of Criminal Justice for administrative services to conduct the required review.
