CO HB1197

Prohibits the Department of Personnel, including the state controller and central collection services section, from providing debt collection services to political subdivisions of the state effective July 1, 2013.

Defines "political subdivision of the state" as any county, municipality, city and county, school district, or special district.

Eliminates authority for the Department of Personnel to provide debt collection services to privately owned or nonprofit entities.

Restricts Department of Personnel debt collection services to state agencies only, as specified in existing statute subsections (1) and (2).

Applies to debt collection services initiated on or after July 1, 2013.
