SB 13-094: Supplemental Appropriation to the Department of Law

• Amends the fiscal year 2012-13 appropriations to the Department of Law by revising Part X of HB 12-1335 with a total supplemental appropriation of $57,518,525.

• Increases funding across six major divisions: Administration ($10,290,540), Legal Services to State Agencies ($25,609,641), Criminal Justice and Appellate ($10,569,419), Water and Natural Resources ($2,338,124), Consumer Protection ($4,160,563), and Special Purpose ($4,550,238).

• Sets hourly billing rates for legal services to state agencies not to exceed $79.87 per hour for attorneys and $64.79 per hour for legal assistants (blended rate of $77.25 per hour).

• Designates funds from multiple sources including General Fund, cash funds, reappropriated funds, and federal funds, with specific allocations for tobacco litigation settlements, Medicaid fraud control programs, and water compacts defense.

• Includes a safety clause declaring the act necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety; signed by Governor John W. Hickenlooper.
