• School district and school accountability committees must increase parent engagement, especially for underrepresented student populations, through publicizing committee service opportunities and assisting with parent involvement in student planning.

• School improvement, priority improvement, and turnaround plans must incorporate strategies to increase parent engagement and include public meetings to solicit parent input before plans are written.

• School districts and charter school institutes must adopt parent engagement policies, identify a point of contact for parent engagement training and resources, and provide training to staff on working effectively with parents.

• Colorado State Advisory Council for Parent Involvement in Education must provide regional training programs for accountability committees and school district personnel on parent leadership and best practices for parent engagement.

• Appropriates $150,093 and 1.0 FTE to the Department of Education for fiscal year 2013-2014 to implement accountability and improvement planning programs related to parent engagement.
