CO HB1111

Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 31-30-1104 to expand eligibility for municipal volunteer firefighter pension board membership to include retired fire department members and retired members returned to active service.

Requires three board members to be elected from fire department members, retired fire department members, or retired members returned to active service, selected by those same groups for three-year terms.

Applies to elections held after the effective date; existing board members' terms are not affected by the change.

Repeals subsection (3) which allowed municipalities to continue using board compositions in effect as of June 4, 1995.

Takes effect August 6, 2014, unless subject to a referendum petition filed by voters, in which case it requires approval at the November 2014 general election.
