HB 14-1120 Summary

• Changes the deadline for voter approval of a tax increase to fund the new Public School Finance Act from November 2017 to November 2014

• Amends eight separate Colorado statutes and one session law to move up the election date requirement for the tax increase to take effect

• The approved tax increase must still fund preschool through twelfth grade public education with revenue equal to or greater than amounts specified in the Senate Bill 13-213 fiscal note from 2013

• Takes effect August 6, 2014, unless subject to a referendum petition, in which case voter approval at the November 2014 general election is required
