HB 14-1160 Summary

• Exempts vehicles owned or operated by cities, counties, municipal utilities, or special districts from wheel and axle load restrictions if equipped with vacuum or jet equipment for waste or stormwater removal, provided they are not operated on the interstate system.

• Adds a new annual fleet permit option for overweight permits on divisible vehicles or loads, effective January 1, 2015, at a cost of $2,000 plus $35 per vehicle to be permitted.

• Maintains existing overweight permit fees: $500 annual permit, $250 six-month permit, and $15 single-trip permit plus $10 per axle.

• Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 6, 2014) unless subject to a referendum petition, in which case approval by voters in November 2014 is required.

• Applies to permit applications submitted on or after the effective date of the act.
