HB 14-1168 Summary

• Effectively terminates the voluntary licensure program for private investigators by prohibiting the director from accepting new license applications or renewing existing licenses beginning July 1, 2014.

• Changes the program repeal date from September 1, 2016 to when all outstanding licenses expire, allowing current license holders to retain their licenses until natural expiration.

• Removes the automatic sunset provision for private investigator licensure that was previously scheduled for September 1, 2016 in the sunset review statute (C.R.S. 24-34-104).

• Requires the director to notify the revisor of statutes when all licenses issued under the voluntary program have expired.

• Takes effect July 1, 2014.
