HB 14-1233: Supplemental Appropriation to the Department of Corrections

• Amends Section 2 of Chapter 441 (SB 13-230) in the 2013 Session Laws to provide a supplemental appropriation to the Colorado Department of Corrections for fiscal year 2013-2014.

• Appropriates a total of $771,474,304 to the Department of Corrections, with $684,478,492 from the General Fund, $40,092,306 from cash funds, and $1,010,514 from federal funds.

• Distributes funding across eight major divisions: Management ($105,514,261), Institutions ($202,598,880), Support Services ($37,122,172), Inmate Programs ($38,975,796), Community Services ($40,205,694), Parole Board ($1,574,853), Correctional Industries ($55,855,156), and Canteen Operation ($14,742,963).

• Includes funding for personnel (salaries, health insurance, merit pay), facility operations, inmate housing payments to local jails and private prisons, medical services, educational and treatment programs, and parole supervision.

• Declares the appropriation necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety and was signed into law by Governor John W. Hickenlooper.
