HB 14-1277: Military Family Relief Fund Eligibility

• Expands eligibility for Military Family Relief Fund grants to include Colorado National Guard members and reservists called to state active duty by executive order of the governor, in addition to those on involuntary mobilization orders for federal active duty.

• Requires National Guard members or reservists to be on active military duty for a minimum of 30 days to qualify for grant eligibility, whether through involuntary mobilization or state active duty orders.

• Allows one grant per set of mobilization orders or per executive order for state active duty, enabling families to apply to the Colorado National Guard Foundation when a member is called to duty.

• Establishes that grant funds are intended to help families defray costs of food, housing, utilities, medical services, and other expenses during periods when a family member leaves civilian employment for military duty or state active duty deployment.
