• Requires durable medical equipment suppliers that bill Medicare to obtain a license from the Colorado Secretary of State in order to do business in Colorado.

• Applicants must have at least one physical location within Colorado or within fifty miles of the state border and maintain sufficient inventory and staff to service or repair products.

• Applicants must be accredited by an organization recognized by federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, provide a street address and local business telephone number, and pay an annual license fee not to exceed $500.

• Licensees must prominently display the license at each physical business location; the Secretary of State shall refer all complaints to federal Medicare and Medicaid authorities.

• Appropriates $95,775 and 0.1 FTE for the Department of State to implement the licensing program by December 31, 2014.
