• Mandates the school board or institute provide the closure plan in writing to school staff, local teachers associations, parents of enrolled students, and the surrounding community.

• For charter school closures, requires the institute charter school to communicate directly with parents and staff, and work with the local school district to ensure students and parents receive information about district reassignment processes and available school choice options.

• Declares the act necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety.
