DU's Pioneer athletics program won 5 of the last 6 Learfield Sports I-AAA Directors' Cups and the institution hosts notable schools including Sturm College of Law, Daniels College of Business (eighth-oldest in country), and Josef Korbel School of International Studies.

Chancellor Robert D. Coombe has led the university since July 2005, overseeing academic growth, a major fundraising campaign, STEM education initiatives, and hosting the first 2012 presidential debate.
