Senate Bill 14-131 Summary

• The Department of Revenue shall issue two registration cards per vehicle, with one card printed without the owner's address (except for commercial vehicles, which receive both cards with addresses).

• The address-free registration card displays a security statement warning that thieves use registration card addresses to steal from vehicle owners and encouraging drivers to keep only the address-free card in their vehicle.

• Vehicle owners are no longer required to sign the registration card; the Department shall not require a signature on the card itself.

• The affirmation of motor vehicle insurance may be satisfied by either signing a statement of nonuse or providing proof of insurance, rather than requiring signature on the registration card.

• The act takes effect July 1, 2014, and applies to registrations issued or renewed on or after that date.
