SB14-138 Summary

• Expands civil immunity protections to include volunteers (in addition to volunteer firefighters) who provide emergency care, rescue, assistance, or recovery services at emergency scenes in good faith.

• Extends immunity to incident management teams and persons who command, direct, employ, sponsor, or represent volunteers and firefighters at emergencies.

• Exempts immunity protections from applying to acts or omissions that are grossly negligent, willful, wanton, or reckless.

• Defines "volunteer" by reference to the meaning established in section 13-21-115.5 of Colorado law.

• Preserves existing protections under sections 12-64-118, 13-21-108, 13-21-115.5, and 24-33.5-1505 of Colorado law without alteration.
