Colorado General Assembly supports Denver's bid to host the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Denver's successful hosting of the 2008 Democratic National Convention demonstrates the city's capacity and infrastructure to manage a convention of this scale.

A national convention of this magnitude draws approximately 50,000 visitors and will bring economic development and national recognition to Denver and Colorado.

Colorado's status as a swing state positions it as a prime location for hosting a national convention, and bipartisan leadership including Governor John Hickenlooper, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, and four U.S. Congressmen support the bid.

Copies of the resolution will be sent to Republican National Committee leadership and Denver convention host committee officials to formally communicate legislative support for the 2016 Republican National Convention bid.
