Day Without Hate was founded in May 2007 by Standley Lake High School students following the Virginia Tech tragedy to promote nonviolence, unity, and respect in schools

Over 120,000 students in 250 schools, 10 universities, 14 states, and 4 countries participated in the previous year's celebration on the last Friday of April

Colorado General Assembly acknowledges the work of Day Without Hate and recognizes the necessity of promoting awareness of nonviolence, respect, and unity within the educational system

Proclaims April 25, 2014, as Day Without Hate in Colorado to promote a culture of nonviolence through embracing differences

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to Governor John Hickenlooper, the Jefferson County Day Without Hate committee, and the Colorado Congressional delegation
