Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 38-41-202 to specify information required in written instruments filed with the county clerk and recorder to claim a homestead exemption.

Requires recorded homestead instruments to include the name of the property owner and the nature and source of the owner's interest in the property.

Allows the spouse of a property owner to homestead the property with the same effect as if the owner had done so.

Requires signatures of both spouses to convey or encumber property when a homestead instrument has been recorded.

Takes effect August 5, 2015, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case the bill requires approval by voters at the November 2016 general election.
